Japanese noren polyester curtain, KISETSU Care instructions: Hand wash in cold water, not dry clean A noren is a short slit curtain that is hung on the front door of shops, restaurants or houses in Japan. It usually wears the family monogram or serves as a trader's ensign and is a symbol of respectability. Over the years, the Noren has evolved and discovered new functions and appearances. For an Asian-inspired look, modern decorators hang them as dividers between rooms, as curtains on doors or windows, or as hanging wall decorations. Traditional Japanese Noren are easily installed using curtain rods with hanging brackets, thin bamboo poles, or long wooden dowels from a hardware store; they are usually sewn with loops or a large hollow hem to pass a rod.
