Mattel’s 2024 Barbie Color Reveal Mermaid is a beautiful new addition to our collection. Our little girls were enchanted by the whole unboxing and reveal experience. After submersing Barbie in her plastic tube filled with warm water, they wiggled and swirled her around and up and down until the transformation evolved. The temporary coating on the doll disappeared and there appeared a beautiful mermaid with long shimmering hair that color coordinated with her vibrant mermaid “skin.” Her soft fabric fin is removable and interchangeable with other mermaids in the collection. Her surprise accessories include a seashell comb, necklace and tiara headdress. Although there is no makeup change with water, her hair does have that special effect. We love her but only wish that her body would bend so that she could “sit down.”

My daughter has been loving this Barbie Color Reveal Mermaid. Everything comes individually packaged, 5 in total (the doll and 4 accessories), in a plastic tube. The instructions are easy to follow. Open the doll first, submerge in warm water that you’ve filled the tube packaging with and watch the magic happen. Wait to open the accessory packages until after you have done the color reveal on the doll if you want her color to be a surprise. The accessories include a comb, necklace, headband, and a mermaid tail. According to the instructions, there is a feature where a strip of hair can color change based on the temperature of water. Ours didn’t really work though, but my daughter didn’t seem to mind. Overall, we had fun doing the color reveal and my daughter is having fun playing with her new Barbie.

The Barbie mermaid came in a cylinder with some surprise bags inside. My daughter likes that you can't find out until you tear them open, almost like each being wrapped like a present. She got the doll out and we found she needs to go back in the cylinder with water. We're in the bathroom filling this up, having fun of course. My daughter is so excited, she pulls the mermaid out and yells "she's beautiful." Now she has to clean her in the sink and we dump all the bluish water. We leave her to dry and open up the accessories. We attached them. The headband would not stay on or the necklace, so we tossed those aside. She added her tail and now has her mermaid complete. We've decided this toy can stay in the bathroom after my daughter tried sneaking a bucket of water into her room. My daughter loves the looks of this mermaid and likes her to swim with her. She only complained the mermaid can't sit. LOL!

Everything about this Barbie is a surprise! I have three kids, ages 7, 5 and 3. They were all excited to open each package and see what was inside! The instructions on how to make colors change didn’t have any in English but the pictures were clear enough to understand what to do. The first swirl in water had them all oohing and awwing! You dip the Barbie into the tub of warm water and the water will change colors and is shimmery, all the while revealing a colored pattern on the Barbie doll. Honestly, I thought it was cool too! She comes with a few accessories and a fun tail addition and my kids were thrilled to add her to the Barbie crew at home. While the main color reveal can only happen once, her hair does change colors depending on exposure to warm or cold water so the color changing fun can continue!
