February 13, 2024I purchased the Hunter waterproof shoe for a trip to Ireland during the rainy season. My heel was becoming quite tender and I needed something with a lot of cushion for street walking, along with lateral support for cliffside treks. Waterproofing was just icing on the cake. I looked for things to dislike... but never found one. They look good, are grippy, don't collect mud in the treads, provide excellent support on rocky trails and are downright a pleasure to wear. I had absolutely no heal pain since wearing them. The secret is, I believe, due to the heel's center being filled with a firm foam (kin of like Air Jordens), which in itself provides a pleasant ride for my heel. Orthofeet then ships the shoe with 3 additional 3mm thick inserts that permit the user to mix-and-match for their prefered cushioning. It's an excellent system. I sincerely like everything about this shoe.
Most comfortable shoes I've had in years

February 2, 2024Is it just me or are shoes getting smaller? I've ordered the same shoes from other companies that I've ordered before and the new ones are smaller than the old ones. I thought I would take a chance with OrthoFeet because the reviews looked really good. When I got my Hunter Waterproof Black shoes out of the box and first tried them on, I couldn't believe how good they felt. I had read about the extra wide toe box and the extra insoles you could add if necessary - also the added arch support and it sounded like a great idea. I added the arch support and the shoes feel GREAT! I've worn them on a number of 2 mile hikes and I'm not anxious to take them off the minute I get home like all my other shoes. I'll definitely be back when I need another pair of shoes. I just wish I had found these sooner.
Not 100% waterproof but great pain relief

May 26, 2023The shoes are a little loose on my feet and I have to wear thick socks to keep them from slipping. Also they don't have a gusseted tongue so if you should happen to step in a puddle that covers the top of the shoe (yes I'm speaking from experience) they do leak and your feet get wet. For most wet grass, sidewalk, and manicured trail situations they work fine. That's why the 4 star rating. From a comfort level, as long as I wear heavier socks so I don't get blisters, they are very nice. While they don't eliminate all my heel and achilles tendon pain they significantly reduce it. I can once again climb stairs without having to stop on each individual stair. At the end of the day the almost crippling pain is not there and I'm not limping around the house or having to ice my feet. No other brand of shoe I've tried has given me these results. Also this is the only orthotic - type shoe I have ever worn that has a truly wide toe box which I absolutely love. Other companies make that claim but my toes were always pinched together or rubbing the inside of the shoe and causing blisters. These are my go to hiking and outdoor shoe and I like them so much I'm trying to choose (so many choices it's hard to decide) an everyday walking shoe.

May 29, 2024Can’t believe I’m saying this, but these shoes are a little too wide. I’m usually a 4E width but always size up for other brands mainly for boots because other brands are very inconsistent with sizing. That gets really annoying, so I ordered a 6E in this boot. So the first sentence is very true. You should order true to size, and this time I mean true to size. The comfort of these shoes is unparalleled by any brand of footwear I’ve seen. In the winter I’ve worn these to work 6 hours a day standing on my feet, and having very little pain in my legs and back when usually I wouldn’t be able to walk properly after a shift. I’ve just bought my second pair of footwear from this company but this time a sneaker and I cannot wait.
