November 1, 2024I bought this drone from H.N in Mt Barker S.A. the drone itself is an amazing piece of kit with one minor but blaring exception. There is no charger included in the box. You will need to purchase a usb charger with a minimum of 60 watts but preferably 100 watts (I actually went 120 watts) and you will also need a decent usb C cable that is capable of handling the wattage. To take your photo's and video's to the next level I also recommend getting an NV filter kit. Average battery life is 30-35 minutes and you will need RPA drone accreditation from CASA due to the weight of this simple to fly aircraft to stay on the right side of the law. This can be obtained for free after answering a simple exam. Another couple of items to consider purchasing is a landing pad, this will stop dirt and rubbish getting sucked into the motors when taking off and landing, and a hard case to protect your investment. With a bit of care and not getting overly confident (crashing) this drone should offer many years of joy and phenomenal digital memories (Don't forget to put a fast micro sd card in the drone itself. An added bonus is you canalso put one in the RC as a spare in case you need more storage on the field. At least 64 gig in size, bigger if you can, but make sure it is a fast memory. 4K video is a lot of information to write every second)

December 29, 2024Buying refurbished items can save you a lot of money but you do take a chance sometimes. I am glad I bought this one because it looks to be more of an open box purchase than a refurbished item. It looks new and all of the parts that come with this package look new as well, including the manuals and documentation which was still in the plastic.
I charged everything up, created a DJI account and got it linked to the drone. I then took it for a test flight and everything worked absolutely perfectly, including some great shots of my neighborhood. And this drone takes some AMAZING pics and videos! The DJI Air 3 flies incredibly well and is very easy to control. I am so glad I spent the extra money to get the RC2 controller. It's so much better than having to use my phone, although it was never the end of the world. The RC2 is just awesome and super convenient. And by the way, the range on the DJI Air 3 is ridiculous. You will run out of 50% of the battery life in order to turn around and make it back before it runs out of range. Search Youtube for videos of this.
If you are looking for a great drone that flies well and takes amazing photos and videos then this would be a great choice. Highly recommended.

October 14, 2023The DJI Air 3 Fly More Combo Drone is a remarkable piece of technology that truly excels in many aspects, providing an exceptional aerial photography and videography experience. As a cinematographer in my spare time, this is a godsend. Shots that would typically require some crazy rig to get can now be replaced by this amazing drone. For most amateurs-professionals, this is the new default. I’m so excited to start using it on my next film set and I know I am going to get incredible footage out of it.
Pros:
Beautiful Video Quality: The DJI Air 3 delivers stunning video quality with both its wide-angle and medium telephoto lenses. The 10-bit log footage ensures excellent color grading options for professional videographers.
Strong Connection: With its RC-2 controller, this drone maintains a robust connection, allowing for smooth and uninterrupted flights, even at distances of up to 12 miles (1080/60p). I never once worried about losing connection, even when I had it at such high altitudes (on top of the already high Colorado altitude).
Large Learning Library in App: The app features a wealth of tutorials and educational materials, making it an excellent choice for both beginners and experienced drone pilots. Everything from your basic how to fly videos to how to get artsy shots.
Fly More Bundle Extras: The Fly More Combo is packed with essential accessories, including extra batteries, propellers, a carrying case, and more. This bundle is a must if you are thinking about buying this, the added value is STRONG.
10-Bit Log Footage from Both Lenses: The ability to capture 10-bit log footage from both the wide-angle and medium telephoto lenses provides advanced post-processing flexibility for colorists and editors like myself.
Great Battery Life: With up to 46 minutes of flight time, the DJI Air 3 offers exceptional endurance, allowing you to capture more content on a single charge.
Incredible Set of Features: From the basics like robust obstacle avoidance to smart flight modes like FocusTrack which keeps your subject in focus during movement, to Quickshot which has several cool presets for fun videos.
Photography and Videography Chops: The 48MP cameras, featuring both wide-angle and medium telephoto lenses, are capable of producing high-quality images and videos, catering to both photography and videography enthusiasts.
Tutorials Built Into Software: The built-in tutorials walk you through how to operate the drone effectively and maximize its capabilities from the get go.
Waypoints Support: The introduction of Waypoints support on the Air series is a significant enhancement for mission planning and creating complex flight paths for capturing stunning footage.
Cons:
FAA Approval Required: The drone's size places it just above the weight limit requiring FAA approval for flight. This means you'll need to comply with additional regulations, take the test, and pay a small fee every couple years.
Language Issue with Tutorial Videos: The fact that tutorial videos are typically in Chinese with auto-generated English subtitles can be frustrating for users who prefer more comprehensive English-language tutorials. When you turn on English audio, it is also auto-generated and can be difficult to understand at times.
Slight Image Quality Discrepancy: While the 70mm lens delivers crisp and sharp images, the 24mm lens doesn't quite match up in terms of image quality. It’s minimal, but there is a difference.

January 19, 2024Have officially taking mine on about 35 flights and roughly 7:00 or 8 hours. Here's what I have to say about it quick and easy. I have been flying drones for quite some time I am licensed. This drone is great for a simple photos and videos but do not expect anything beyond what the DJI mini 3 does. The obstacle avoidance does not work at all. It will only stop for giant broad walls and recognizably large structures. It will not avoid anything beyond 6 to 8 ft in diameter. So basically don't take it around trees, power lines, power poles, people, and things like that. The videography is not as good as it's supposed to be there is no way this is 4k my mini 2 does a better job. Honestly since the updates I would not advise purchasing this if you are trying to get professional grade anything. I have protection on my mind so I do plan on exchanging it. It would be my solid belief that this is not worth the money. If you're going to buy an expensive drone either go with the FPV and get blade protectors if you're looking for speed and performance. If you're looking for videography and obstacle avoidance on professional level spend the extra money and get a mavic 3 pro or go with autel robotics and get one of their drones that have carbon fiber protection.
