So good!!
Thu L.· Review provided by shopifypreview.com · December 15, 2024
I bought the weekday(?) set during the sale, definitely helped ease the sting of sticker price to try out this brand for the first time. Heard many mixed reviews, so was nervous but pleasantly surprised!! This works great more for me now that I’m now 40, and my skin needs have changed quite a bit. I had been combo dry, but recently my usual foundations (matte/glowy) weren’t looking too good on my skin so thought I’d give this a try specifically for the complexion stick and to try other items. My favorites of this set were the complexion stick, bronzer balm, the blush balm, and the brush!! The complexion stick I got in the shade linen which was a fairly good match for me right now in winter for pale Asian skin, will probably go for the next neutral shade up when summer comes. My foundation shades in other brands are 1N for Dior forever matte and Ln8 in YSL after hours. It can get dewy/oily for me after about 6-8 hours of wear, which I think is great for a normal workday considering this is meant to be super long lasting. I do use primer with this like I do with all base makeup, but a moisturizer/glowy primer or the tatcha primer with this is so good. The moisturizing primer helps to blend color in easier and gives the lit from within/moisturized skin look while the tatcha helped things stay matte while still looking for skin like. It is true medium coverage and easy to build up coverage without it looking cakey. My skin really looks good even veiling my freckles pretty well! Would definitely consider repurchasing this for how easy to use it is, clean, and works!!
Drying. Pilling. Product constantly breaks.

Had such high hopes but it's just not it. It's very drying and even if your skin is oily, it pills a lot due to this, and no matter how you adjust your skin care before putting it on. I had to exchange this product three times(!!!) because no matter what, the foundation stick product kept breaking from the holder. And because of the short lid, the product flings out and multiple times landed on the floor but I kept exchanging because I thought it was worth it. The Merit foundation blending brush that goes with this however, is amazing. And works well with other products. I ended up getting Hourglass's foundation stick and it is much more creamy and works well with combination skin - I can get oily in my t-zone and dry cheeks and it still works incredibly well and you don't need a lot at all. Merit's product felt like you needed a lot to get a good blend which would just cause further pilling and streaking. If you like a thicker look in your skin, this can't handle that at all. On the other hand, as is promoted, if you want a more natural look, this doesn't achieve that because it pills so much.
Stick breaks! Cap is awkward.

I purchased Suede for under eye & Buff for all over foundation/concealer.

While the colors & formula work well for my skin, this is an absolute no on repurchasing! One of the color sticks broke during the first use & the other broke after 2 or 3 uses. These were NOT turned up (since they come sticking out enough when first opened) nor did I use the pressure of a toddler with a crayon learning to color. They just BROKE FOR NO REASON...TWICE...because I returned the first one that broke. (Didn't have the mental energy to go back for a second return so I tried to fix them on my own. A fail, btw.)

They really need to fix this as well as the packaging. With regards to the packaging, the cap is very tight which is good because that means it's not going to just fall off. However, because about half an inch of the product comes already exposed/turned up in the tube, you have to be RIDICULOUSLY CAREFUL when pulling the tight cap off because it will hit the exposed product. So you end up with nicks in the product & color all over the inside of the cap.

This costs too much money for these kinds of quality issues.

Love my Merit bronzing stick though. They should mimic that kind of packaging & set up for this foundation/concealer stick.
[Rewarded Review] FINALLY A TRUE MATCH
TheAdriArchives· Review provided by sephora.com · April 13, 2024
I don't think I've ever had such a great shade match that once oxidized I'd have trouble taking pictures showing it. The shade pictured is "Bone", which is the lightest cool-toned shade available. TLDR: I tried out "Bone" and who would have guessed it would be a seamless match for me now!

I tested the formula on my normal slightly dry hands without a base to see how it would react. Once blended and dried, I kind of lost it on my hand. I had to add another swatch to the left of it (pictured) to have it show up on my hand (pre-oxidation). I tend to have a normal sensitive skin type, but I wash my hands a lot so they always seem to be a tad dryer just like my face is on a day to day. It truly blended in so well. The skin conditioning formula speaks volumes I'm honestly impressed. It still looked like my skin after two hours of no base and no powder while still covering the redness that I get from skin and autoimmune conditions.

I was shocked to see the years and years of dark circles hidden so fast. I go for a natural finish look overall. It was so easy to blend each time. It didn't dry out my skin or flake either. I applied a light dust of powder to set it and topped it all with a setting spray of course, and I got no creasing! It could be my skin type, the skin prep, or the powder and setting spray but take it as you will! So happy I now have an easy-to-work with stick I can use on the go that matches my natural skin tone again. It makes getting ready in the car TRULY 5 minutes or less.
