Bigger Leaner Stringer
John P.· Review provided by legionathletics.com · March 16, 2023
This is the best workout book I have read. I liked it so much I purchased the digital version of Thinner Leaner Stronger for women and also Muscle For Life. I’m 59 years old and I’m the best shape of my life and have lost 26lbs. My body fat is still too high at 22.5 but I’m getting ready to lean out and finally hit my lifetime goals. I am following Bigger Leaner Stronger program and like the workouts better than any other program. The nutrition aspect of the book is also fantastic! I loved the book so much I gave it away to someone who commented and noticed the changes in my appearance so now I’ll have to buy another one just to have at the house🤓

1st and foremost: the books, the blog and Mike's overall philosophy and knowledge is state of the art and should serve as a center of reference to everyone even remotely interested to accomplish their goals in getting bigger leaner stronger.
I own the 1st edition of Mike's BLS as a hard copy.
I recently purchased the 3rd edition BLS and BBLS to benefit from the updated content over the past years.
However, I wish that Mike would have provided a chapter explaining the "transition" between some of the recommendations made in the 1st vs 3rd edition.
e.g. rep timing: 1st edition book: 2-1-2 vs 3rd edition book: 1-1-1
e.g. training frequency: 1st edition book: same muscle group every 5 to 7 days vs 3rd edition book: 3 to 5 days
Could you please provide some references (links, articles) or an explanation why some of the recommendations have changed?
Thank You for the great work and wonderful books.

The most complete science-backed fitness book I've read

Mike really goes above and beyond by giving folks the exact recipe for success. As he says it himself, the truth is much more simple than the industry makes it out to be. Using Mike's strategies and the BLS One Year program, I've gained a ton of muscle while getting strong and shredded. Wouldn't it be great if everyone was as transparent as Mike is?
Just over a year hitting weights - I hit a bench of 365, squat 405 and dead 465 - this is at 6 foot, 200 lb, sub 10% bodyweight. Ripped six-pack yadayada. Mike put me in the before/after - Success Stories section above here under the LEARN tab. I'm big on truth and proof. That's what this program is.
In short, this is this is the best book I've read on strength, diet and mindset and I've read dozens of em (literally).
I recommend this one.

I was 90 kilos on a 174cm medium frame, not sure what my BF% was, however, I know I felt like death in progress. After trying Arnolds protocols (the Encyclopedia) I understand it was for a different purpose than I wanted. I then used 2 cycles of "a well-known body weight training program" for initial conditioning with reduced injury risk: Bigger Leaner Stronger after. I played it safe. This is straight forward, no nonsense, effective, streamlined, you get it, right? I am now 75 kilos 175cm(!) I "grew"?! lol, no, I just got my posture back. I can only guess my BF% is around 18>. These programs worked. It took 16 months. Priceless. No crazy diets, no complicated setups or machinery, I can eat pizza and drink soda without concerns. I am 43 and I have the body to prove it!
