I recently bought the Carrhart loose fit heavy duty rain defender men's black hoodie. I took it home and washed it, there was black fuss/lint in my washer, I had to clean that out, put it in the dryer and within 10 minutes the lint catcher was full of black fuzz/lint, I had to clean that out 4 times in 45 minutes! I then used a lint roller and it was still shedding! I put it on and after all of that I still had black fuzz and black lint all over my shirt! I couldn't stop the lining from shedding and the fit was way too long. I had to return it. I went to a big sporting goods store and bought a similar UNDERARMOUR hoodie, washed it and had minimal shedding in the lint trap hardly anything and the most important thing is that it did not annoyingly shed on my clothes after I put it on. Thats the difference between a cheap lining made in Mexico and a quality lining made in Malaysia. Worth a few dollars more being I didn't have to waste my time and return it. I lost my confidence in Carrhart products, I no longer feel that the quality is there any longer. Sad, they used to have a great reputation for quality, based on the reviews that I see, that's no longer the case.

The quality of the sweatshirt is without question. It's a carhartt rain defender. It's perfect for my and my team's needs when we're out in the rain in the cold in the winter, working on masonry projects. It's loose enough we can move around and it'll trap air to keep you warm, and not too loose and with short enough draw strings that you won't get trapped or caught while working or using equipment.
My issue is the logo area. Looking at the design page, and the review-your-design page, and the order page, I didn't realize how big this logo I was putting on my sweatshirt was actually going to be. It looks like I have a small dinner plate on my sweatshirt, and it's to the left of the chest, so there's a weird imbalance to everything.
I'd probably just order the plain sweatshirt again from my local workwear store, and get it embroidered or do my own logo application.

The jacket is a good medium weight fabric. I like the hood and front pockets.
However, the zipper jumped the teeth at the top of the jacket and fell off during a regular wash and dry cycle. To be fair, the instructions caution gentle cycles, though my expectation is to have durable work and casual performance without special treatment. To the good, was able to reinstall the zipper, but it will not close the last 7 inches without replacement.
The negative is it is made ioff off shore in vietnam.
I prefer and seek out American made products.
Overall, it is a good quality jacket with optimally being made in the states in the future.

The men's hoodies are far superior than what you will find in the women's section. I have a couple of the women's hoodies and the fabric is much lower quality, wearing out fast. The womens fit also doesn't work on my curves, yet this men's heavyweight is perfect. go fogure... I size up to a L from M for a comfortable loose fit and never bother buying hoodies from the women's section after discovering these.

This is THE classic Carhartt hoodie you're looking for. My first one is a solid 5+ years in and going strong with no wear in sight. Literally bulletproof. I live in these out on the homestead, and wear them hard; mucking out the chicken yard, hauling around wheelbarrows of compost, pruning fruit trees, etc. they not only protect me from everything from blackberries to poultry poo, but light-medium rain too! They wash well and stains don't seem to stick. These are my go-to in all seasons but summer.

Huge fan of the little inside pocket too. Perfect for a pack of smokes and a lighter, or a safe secure spot for some cash or a credit card. Always have some chapstick in there in winter.. gum and hairties..
